By visualizing scenes before production, I can help you to identify potential issues or changes early on, saving time and resources during shooting. It also aids in budgeting, as the production team can estimate equipment, personnel, and location requirements more accurately. Previsualization serves as a communication tool among various departments, including the director, cinematographer, production designer, and visual effects team. It helps ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding the creative vision and technical requirements.
Overall, previsualization is a critical part of the filmmaking process, allowing filmmakers to make informed creative decisions and streamline production. It’s a bridge between the initial concept and the actual shooting, helping to translate ideas into a concrete plan for the visual storytelling of a film.
The first step from script to the final film is to create some visuals. I start by creating a mood reel of similar themed films, storyboards and concept art. As a trained Graphic Designer and Illustrator I very often create these myself.
These panels provide a visual narrative that outlines camera angles, character positions, lighting and overall composition. Storyboards help filmmakers visualize the flow of the story and plan camera movements. Check some examples in my “script to screen”reel.
